Style Your Stack With Monica Vinader

Hello, hello everyone!  This past weekend was amazing!  We spent a ton of time outside! I love living in the city because when we run errands we walk everywhere.  Because when the weather’s nice it’s truly a treat. On the flip side I still need to run errands in the rain and snow when walking.  Those are far and few between though.

When I first started blogging I put up an Instagram post of my wrist and this picture took off like hot cakes!   I received so many messages about what was on my wrist and how I styled it. In addition, I still receive comments on it today.  All those messages have inspired me to bring you my Style Your Stack guide on the blog today.

My style is classic and really hasn’t changed in years.  Call it boring or call me Steve Jobs, but I wear the same jewelry every day, well mostly the same.  I start with pearl earrings (I picked mine up years ago at a jeweler so I can’t link the exact pair, but I love these and this pair ), they are easy to grab and make me feel dressed up even when wearing a t-shirt.  I obviously wear my engagement ring and wedding band every day too. And depending on my outfit I might wear a necklace.  The next thing I’m styling is my wrist or as I call it “Styling my Stack!”

Styling my stack is where the fun comes in!  Your stack is essentially the jewelry that you put on your wrist. In other words, your arm candy.  It can be made up of anything you like, such as a watch, bracelets, cuff or even rubber bands.  Yes, I’m guilty of wearing gorgeous jewelry and a hair tie.  The funny part is I never wear my hair up, I don’t technically need the hair tie.  But what I love is that your stack can change depending on your mood or your outfit.  It’s really up to you.

Creating the perfect stack starts with the individual pieces that make up the stack.  Also, the items should stand out on their own, but compliment each other and create a good balance.  Creating a balanced wrist involves the size of each item as well as the color and texture of each item.   I’m not into a matchy-matchy wrist, and I like to have different metals and textures to create an interesting look.

Breaking Down the Stack

Timepiece

The stack should be centered around a good timepiece.  A great timepiece is one of my 5 Key Pieces that everyone should own.  You can find out what the other 4 pieces are in my post here.

What I love about a watch is anything goes, there is no one style you have to have.  Big or small, round or square, blinged out or classic metal, athletic looking or classic style, literally anything goes.  Pick what matches your style and invest in a good piece. A watch can last a lifetime and also be passed down to family members.

My current watch is one of my most prized possessions.  I saved up for so long to get this watch and wear it with pride everyday.  It’s the Michele Deco Watch  and I’ve paired it with the stainless steel bracelet band.  This particular watch has the ability to switch out the band for leather (like this white alligator band) or silicone bands (I love this soft pink one).

Some other great options for watches include this gold mesh strap watch, this rose gold and gray strap watch (I love the soft colors of this watch), and this all silver square faced watch (it’s a great value at $100).

Scarf

Most people wouldn’t think to wear a scar on their wrist, but it’s a great accessory for the wrist.  The best scarf for your wrist is a small square scarf. You can wear the scarf tied flat around your wrist or you can tie it with a big bow.  The square scarf is the easiest to tie with one hand.

When you aren’t using the scarf for your wrist you can tie it to a purse as an accessory.  You can even tie it around your neck for a little French flair! Some great square scarfs are this one (the flowers scream springtime), this one (the bold colors make a great statement) and this one (dark florals are my favorite).

Bracelets

Bracelets are where the variety comes in.  You can wear one or ten, it’s up to you and your style.  There are so many bracelets out there it can get overwhelming when picking out the perfect one.  Therefore, you  can experiment and see what you like before investing in something expensive.

I’ve been styling my stack since college and back then I had three Tiffany’s bracelets that I wore religiously.  My trio consisted of the Heart Tag Charm Bracelet, the Ball Bracelet and the Venetian Link Bracelet.  I saved all my money from working at the Gap to buy these and wore them with pride.  In writing this post I realized that they are still selling these iconic pieces.  I’m dating myself, but I purchased mine 15+ years ago and they are still in style!  I told you my look is timeless 🙂

Since those days I’ve gravitated to other styles for my bracelets.  I rotate between my Classic Cable Bracelet and my Large Oval Link Bracelet. And I just added a piece I’ve been eyeing for a long time now.  It’s the Monica Vinader Friendship Bracelet.

You all remember friendship bracelets when you were little, right?  The ones made from string.  I would sit on the couch and tie knots for hours making the perfect bracelet.  I loved crafting them and giving them away to my friends.  I’ve graduated from the string version into the grown up version by Monica Vinader.

The adult friendship bracelet has been around for years.  Over the years  there have been several iterations, but one thing remained the same, the classic elegant style.  The linear friendship bracelet has five flat disks that line up perfectly on a double plaited adjustable cord.  Also, this particular friendship bracelet is completely customizable.

First you select your cord color, there are nine colors!

Ballet Pink

Black

Coral

Navy

Rose Gold

Mink

Navy Metallic

Rainbow

Red Metallic

Silver Metallic

Next you select the metal of the disks, with three choices.

Rose Gold

Silver

Gold

That means there are 30 combinations for the linear friendship bracelet, that’s a lot of choices!  I picked out the rose gold, mink combination.  I typically wear all silver jewelry, but have been incorporating different metals into the mix.  Therefore, rose gold is a great option for a medium toned color that blends perfectly with silver.

Quick side note for you all…

When I write a style guide or a brand-related piece I love to give the background details on the brand and piece I’m featuring. Because seeing how brands came to life is one thing I find very interesting. In addition, I love to share my research with you guys as well.

About Monica Vinader

Monica Vinader is a British luxury jewelry brand the celebrates individuality.  She personally started the company a little over 10 years ago. She mortgaged her house to start it up and quickly had investors knocking on her door.  A true entrepreneur, she has grown the company over the years to what it is today.

She is wildly popular across the pond and is quickly gaining steam in the U.S.  Her classic pieces appeal to celebrities, royals and everyday girls alike. The cornerstone of her brand is centered around personalization and stacking.  It’s probably why I gravitate towards her stunning pieces.

The friendship bracelet, my favorite piece in her line,  was introduced 10 years ago and has become a cult classic.  It is truly an affordable luxury piece that makes a great gift for someone or for yourself.

Monica Vinader has several stores overseas and one in Soho in New York.  You can also see her stunning designs at her Shop-In Shops at various Nordstroms around the country.  They are currently located in Chicago, Costa Mesa, San Diego and San Jose. I’m lucky enough to live near the Chicago Shop-In-Shop so I get to pop in frequently to look around.

Look at that!  Not only did you learn how to style your stack in this post you also learned a little bit about a great female entrepreneur!
