Hello!!!! It’s already October and  I’m still buying my “back to school wardrobe” Haha! I was so excited to see that one of the pieces I picked up a couple years ago is back.  Say hello to this beautiful Saddle Bag from Gigi New York and I’m so excited about it!

The Saddle Bag – Why I Added This Bag To My Closet

Going into this purchase wasn’t a quick decision.  Owning a  saddle bag had been high on my list.  It’s a classic style that is a great size for a mom with small kids.  I searched high and low for the perfect bag that was within my budget. Mike and I have always had a solid grasp on our monthly budget .  While we have a dedicated clothing budget each month I didn’t want to break the bank in one month on one item.  So I saved for this bag the good old fashion way…by socking away money each month until I could afford it. I also did extra things like sell my old clothes on Poshmark. (You can check out my store here ) It’s one of the easiest ways to clean out your closet.  While it’s time consuming, the payoff in the end is worth it.

Adding a bag to my collection is no easy task.  While some may think because I’m a blogger I have a huge closet with endless clothing and bag options, that’s not necessarily true.  While I have a ton of shoes I only have 6 purses that I rotate. I used to have a lot more, but as I got older I wanted quality over quantity and being able to afford the quality bag meant having less bags.  I bought my Burberry Bag (I’ve linked to some similar options here and here, as mine is old and they no longer make it) a couple years ago and that has been my daily bag ever since. It’s a classic black tote bag and is stylish and timeless.  While I love my tote bag for work, having something smaller for the weekends is more my speed.

My research led me to the Jenni Saddle Bag by Gigi and I’m in love.  It’s a bit pricey for a small bag coming in at $385, but it is worth the price.  You are truly getting what you pay for here. The pebbled leather smells delicious and is durable.  It’s not a super soft leather which I like because it will stand up to my active lifestyle. The bag itself is not heavy either, so it doesn’t weigh you down once you put all your stuff into it.  We all lug around so much in our purses anyways so having the actual purse be lightweight is important.

I’m also loving the details on this bag.  The exaggerated leather tassel is probably one of the best features.  I love the look of having a little something extra on a purse to give it depth and character.  It also has a magnetic snap closure, which makes life easier when opening and closing the purse.  If you get the snap close it locks in place and you don’t have to worry about it staying open.

Making a big purchase is always a little nerve wracking, but the feeling you get when it all works out is so worth it.  I’m in love with my Jenni Saddle Bag and so glad I researched and saved up for this purse. Once again paying for a quality piece is well worth it.
