Hello everyone! The weeks have been flying by. Last week was a light blog week as I was traveling for my main job. It’s definitely hard to tackle a lot of things during the week when you aren’t in your normal environment. Once I got back home I spent a lot of time this weekend gathering new content for you and I’m super excited about today’s post….The Little Chambray Dress.
You’ve all heard of the little black dress and chances are you have your favorites (some of my current favorite LBD’s are here and here), but the chambray dress is the cooler little sister. To be honest, I’ve always owned a chambray dress. I worked at the Gap for 12 years so it was a true staple in all of their lines and a staple in my closet.
I’ve owed a long sleeve chambray dress for years and have worn it to death every fall. My current long sleeve favorites right now include this one by J.Crew and this Madewell one. But this summer I was craving a sleeveless version.
I came across a sleeveless chambray dress and wear it nonstop. It’s a great dress for summer evenings, or weekend days. Bonus wear… it’s perfect for the office on jeans Friday. Why not wear full denim instead of just pants? My one word of caution is to make sure it’s not a distressed chambray dress, you should never wear something overly distressed in any office environment.
My go-to style for the chambray dress is a shirt dress, with a tie. There are a couple reasons why I love a shirt dress. First, it’s a classic style that has been around for years. Second, it grows with you. Not that the goal is to grow, but if you put on a few pounds you can still wear it. The tie allows you to cinch the waist and make it fit perfectly. I also love having an exaggerated bow as it makes the dress super girly!
Sad side note friends…the dress I’m featuring is sold out. I normally don’t post items that are sold out, but this one went way faster than I was expecting. I’m so sorry! I have found some other great sleeveless options for you all though.
The sleeveless chambray dress is your best bet as you can layer it for cooler fall days and get more use out of it. Wearing a piece over multiple seasons is a true bonus. Pair it with a soft cardigan and a cute pair of booties for a fresh fall look. Take it one step further and add a tall boot on even cooler days. The options are endless!
Whether you go with a long sleeve, short sleeve or sleeveless chambray dress, you will absolutely love the longevity of the piece. Chambray never goes out of style. It’s like a pair of great jeans, when you find a pair you love you wear them forever. Same with the chambray dress! I love getting the most out of my pieces and having them for several years is an added bonus.
