Review: Tarte Cosmetics Concealer and Other Finds

We are all heavily influenced, whether we accept that fact or not.  Personally, I am always under the influence of a good targeted IG ad and a brand sponsored media trip.  I recently saw that my favorite bloggers were in Miami with Tarte Cosmetics and well, I was hooked!  I’ve actually been planning a few beauty posts as I’m on the search for a new concealer and mascara (stay tuned for those posts).  So when I saw that Tarte Cosmetics just launched a new concealer, I was onboard to try it out.

I didn’t stop with concealer, though. I ordered a few other items to test out too.  A huge selling point for me on Tarte Cosmetics is that they offer travel sizes in a lot of their products.  This is a great opportunity to buy a smaller sized product to try out without committing to the full size.  This is especially helpful as they have a smaller footprint in brick and mortar stores like Ulta and Sephora.

Review: Tarte Cosmetics Concealer and Other Finds

So what did I buy?  My focus was concealer, however I also picked up a lipstick, mascara and blending brush.  I bought them mainly for testing purposes for future blog posts, but I also needed them for everyday use.  Let’s take a look!

Tarte SEA Hydrocealer Concealer

They literally just launched this concealer last week.  It was created with hydroflex technology, which means it’s long lasting, flexible and won’t get into your fine lines.  The Tarte Cosmetics concealer provides excellent under eye coverage, which I need for my dark circles.  It stays in place for 12 hours, which I can confirm it stayed fresh on my face all day long.  It also blends pretty easily and isn’t thick or gunky. Overall I was very impressed and would recommend this concealer.  I am wearing shade 25N.

Tarte Cosmetics Shape Tape Concealer

This is a full coverage concealer that won’t get caught in your fine lines or creases.  While it is full coverage it isn’t overly thick and you can blend it easily. It has a matte finish and is smooth to the touch after you apply it.  You actually forget it is on your face.  The coverage is 100% perfect, you can barely tell how dark my under eyes are.  If I had to pick between this and the SEA Hydrocealer Concealer, I would pick Shape Tape as my favorite.  I really enjoyed that it felt smooth to the touch after applying and felt that the coverage was just a tad better.  I’m wearing color 34S, which is a great match for my skin tone.

Tarte Cosmetics Power Flexer Brush

They saw me coming with this one.  I didn’t need a brush, but I bought a brush and love it.  Normally I apply concealer with my fingers, but thought I’d really up my game with a brush this time.  I enjoy the angles on the brush as they fit perfectly under my eye and it blends very quickly.  Do you need this brush?  Probably not, but I’m really happy with my purchase!

Tarte Cosmetics H₂O Balm Lip Tint

During the pandemic I stopped wearing lipstick.  It was hard to keep on without getting all over my mask and it annoyed me.  However we are now maskless in Chicago and I’m ready to get my lips out there again!  I picked up this lip tint because everyone raved about the moisture it provided.  Well the reviews were true the amount of moisture it provides is outstanding and well received being that my lips are very dry coming out of winter.  I love that it also provides color too.  One swipe for a subtle tint of color and two swipes for full blown lipstick.  It’s great to apply for Zoom calls and reasonably priced to grab a few and keep them in your purse, jacket and desk at work.

Tarte Cosmetics Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara

I’ve been using the same mascara for years so switching is hard for me.  I’m starting to test out new brands and love that Tarte offers travel sizes in their mascaras.  I don’t have to fully commit in order to test it out.  The mascara description says it lifts, lengthens and puffs up your lashes, so I had high hopes.  In reality I felt that it only puffed up my lashes, making them look way fuller.  However it didn’t lengthen them at all, which was a negative for me.  If you are looking for fuller lashes then this is a great mascara.  If you want length I would probably pass on this mascara.
