Summer Wardrobe Essentials Under $50

Summer Wardrobe Essentials Under $50

Hello Summer!  While it technically begins on June 20th, I’m already in a summer mindset.  The days are getting longer, they heat up a little quicker and balcony nights are already happening.  I’m jumping into summer and stocking up on summer wardrobe essentials.

Summer always creeps up on me and my closet suffers.  I’m usually ill prepared and by the time I figure out what I need summer is over.  I’m getting ahead of the game this year and stocking up on my summer wardrobe essentials early.  I’ve already picked up several tops, bottoms and dresses that I’m excited to wear.  And I have some great staples from last year that the retailers brought back this year.

I’m always hesitant to spend a lot of money on clothes and reserve high end prices for those investment pieces.  I tend to reserve investment pieces for items that I can get multiple seasons worth of wear.  So by default tees and shorts don’t fall into that category.  Hence I spend less on these items and search for more value pieces.

That is why I’m focusing on summer wardrobe essentials that are $50 and under.  This is a great price point and something I am comfortable spending for items that I get a couple months use out of.  The best part is a lot of these items are repeat offenders, meaning the retailers have had them for a couple years and brought them back this summer.

I’ve created a post that is easy to shop for all of you.  You can click on the picture below and shop the item that way.  Or you can scroll down a bit and read a description of each item and shop it through the description.

Summer Wardrobe Essentials Under $50

Puff Sleeve Top $48

Easy and breezy for summer.  Having a lightweight cotton blouse for the summer is a great way to dress up your distressed denim shorts.  This blouse gets a little wrinkled as you wear it, which makes it not as structured as a traditional white blouse.

Pocket Tee $18

I’ve been living in these tees right now.  They have a great shape!  While it looks boxy it is actually slightly fitted and a little bit shorter than your average tee.  It’s perfect to tuck in or wear untucked.

Jean Jacket $55

I’m technically $5 over my limit, but this is my favorite jean jacket around.  It’s soft, but structured and the light wash is perfect for summer.  I wear it all the time as an extra layer when temps dip to the low 80’s!

Summer Sweater $48

This slightly oversized sweater is ideal for cooler summer nights.  It comes in green, red and blue stripes, which are all great options for summer.

Strip Tank – $19

Nothing is more classic in the summer than a striped tank.  A scoop neck tee is ideal for anyone, but especially moms.  It lets me show a little skin without showing too much.  And since Lizzie is always pulling on my shirt it doesn’t reveal too much.

Solid Racerback Tank $25

Lightweight tees are a must have in the summer.  I love a scoop neck top and also love that this one is a racer back. It’s a slight racer back, so it subtly comes in on the back to show enough of your back.

Chino Shorts $48

These are the ultimate mom shorts!  They are called the easy short and they are exactly that, easy.  They come in 5 colors, have an elastic waist and go with just about everything.  I have the black and olive color and get a ton of use out of them.

Denim Shorts $46

While I don’t own this particular pair of shorts, they are very similar to my pair from last year.  I also have an $18 pair of denim shorts, but they have been sold out for a while now.  If you check the Target site they may come back into stock soon.

Printed Cami $29

I could live in printed tops all year long.  This piece pulls double duty in the closet as you can wear it in the summer alone and as a layering piece in the fall and winter.

Patterned Dress $24

I’m obsessed with dresses this year and this one has the best pineapple pattern. Fun fact about me: I refused to wear shorts for several years in my 20’s, I only wore dresses.  I thought they were fun, polished and super grownup.  Well I’ve arrived as a grownup and agree with my younger self.

Shirt Dress – $40

One of the most versatile pieces in my closet right now.  See how you can wear this dress 10 different ways all summer long in my post here.

Cowhide Slide $39

A patterned sandal like cowhide or snakeskin never goes out of style.  With a subtle pattern you can mix it with other patterns and not look crazy.

Brown Sandals $35

Classic brown sandals go with everything.  You can even mix them with black and look ultra chic and put together.  The style of these are classic so you can have them for multiple years.

Earrings $7

How fun are these earrings?  Having a neutral color earring makes it go further as you can wear it with anything.

The best part about this post is every item is under $50!  At that price point you can get some great pieces that can be worn on repeat all summer long!  Which one is your favorite?  Let me know!
