5 Must Haves For Your Primary Bathroom

primary bathroom essentials

We re-did our primary bathroom about a year and a half ago.  You can read about the full remodel in this post here.  I move slowly though and needed time to fully outfit the primary bathroom with all the essentials.  I’m so close to being done, I just need artwork.  Taking my time adding all the final touches on it has allowed me to find the very best items that are functional and gorgeous.  Today I’m sharing my five primary bathroom essentials!

5 Primary Bathroom Essentials

White Towels

I absolutely love white towels in the bathroom, however not all white towels are created equal.  There are so many variations of white towels.  Some have a yellow undertone, some can’t be bleached and some just naturally turn yellow over time.  I’ve tested out all of them.  I’ve spent some major money on Frontgate towels only to have them turn yellow after a month. And I’ve tried Threshold Target towels that lasted about a year until they turned yellow.  My newest and favorite white towels are these Koolabura by Ugg towels.  They are plush, super white and can be bleached since they don’t have any color accents.  I’ve had them for about a month now and love them.

Bathroom Accessories

It took me over a year to find countertop accessories for my primary bathroom.  They are so hard to pick out.  I don’t like a lot of stuff sitting around and out so I wanted to find something that looked rich, was heavy (so I couldn’t knock it over) and in the right color palette.  I finally found a gorgeous set by Kassatex and I love it.

Jewelry/Makeup Tray

Having a place to set your jewelry, lipgloss or medication is a must in the bathroom.  Yes, you can leave it all out on the counter, but having a cute tray to drop it off elevates your bathroom.  Here are some of my favorites right now.

Decorative Towels

I live for decorative towels!  These are towels I never actually touch, but just look pretty hanging there.  I’m conservative so I went with a white towel that had a gray stripe, like these.  However you could also add a towel here that has texture or a design, these are adorable.

Cleaning Products

No primary bathroom is complete without the right mix of cleaning products.  I have an all white bathroom, which I love.  However it is hard to keep clean and you can see every spec of dirt on the ground.  It kind of drives me up the wall.  Once again there has been a lot of trial and error, but I have found these items work the best.

  • Windex for glass only
  • For the floors (outside the shower) I use a swiffer and then scrub the floor with dawn soap and hot water
  • Shower cleaning supplies – I deep clean the shower once a week.  That means that the glass doors and tile walls are cleaned more thoroughly. For the glass shower doors and tile walls I use a mixture of dawn dish soap and vinegar.  I scrub it on the glass and rinse off with water.  This mixture reduces soap scum build up.
  • For super deep cleans, which I do once a month I use a magic erasers on the glass doors to really scrub off any soap scum.  For the floor inside the shower I use Branch Basics Oxygen Boost.  I create a paste and let it sit on the floor for an hour.  I gently scrub it first, let it sit, then scrub again before rinsing it off.
  • After daily showers I squeegee the glass doors and use a daily shower spray on the walls.  This spray really cuts down the amount of soap scum.  Sinks and Toilets get cleaned with a gel cleaner.
