Holiday Cheese Ball Recipe

There are three things I love about the holidays; decorations, giving presents and food!  Whether it’s a new recipe or an old family favorite I’m all about the food.  In addition, We bake a ton of cookies, and by “we” I mean Mike. And we love cookies.  But for Christmas Eve and Christmas day I have my favorites too.  Some of the recipes have been passed down from my mom and grandma and will always be holiday staples.

We actually eat the same thing every year for Christmas Eve with a few new things peppered in here and there.  The one dish that will always be my favorite is an appetizer.  It’s from my mom and will always remind me of her and Christmas Eve. Furthermore, my mom would always make it and put it out early in the day.  So naturally I would eat it all day!  Today I’m sharing her famous (in my family) holiday cheese ball recipe.  Trust me it’s a crowd pleaser!

Ingredients:

  • 2 packets of 8oz cream cheese
  • 1 can (8.5 oz) crushed pineapple
  • 2 cups walnuts – chopped
  • ¼ cup green peppers – chopped

Other:

  • Drain the pineapple for at least 2 hours, however, the longer the better.
  • You can eliminate the nuts if needed and it still tastes delicious
  • You can split the final mixture in half to create two cheese balls.  While you can freeze it, it will be slightly watery when it thaws.
