Family Staycation at Loews Chicago Hotel

Who doesn’t love a staycation?  We recently enjoyed a family staycation at Loews Chicago Hotel and were hosted to a wonderful night’s stay!  The hotel is in downtown Chicago in the Streeterville neighborhood and is officially re-open and ready to welcome you!

Family Package at Loews Chicago Hotel

We selected the family package for our stay and were blown away by the goodies and room size.  Our room was slightly bigger than a normal room, had two double beds, a bathtub, as well as a play tent for Lizzie and an assortment of family snacks!

The room is spacious enough for a stroller, a pack-and-play, and still plenty of room to jump around.  The play tent and fire is along the windows and provides hours of fun for little kids.  I even got in on the action and jumped into the tent.  Lizzie’s reaction to the tent was the best.  She was thrilled that there was something special for her in the room.

The snacks are amazing too!  It was loaded with kid friendly snacks, like pouches, juice boxes, candy and popcorn.  We enjoyed the popcorn before heading down to dinner and it was a huge hit!

Pool and Fitness Center

Located on the third floor of the hotel is the pool and fitness center.  We didn’t use the fitness center, but took a peek inside.  It was pretty sizable for a hotel gym with lots of machines and free weights.

The pool is technically for swimming laps, but we used it to play in.  Luckily there was no one working out when we were there.  It’s toasty warm inside the pool room, which looks out at Streeterville Social.  Towels are provided and plenty of chairs for lounging or sitting.  My one tip is be careful on the floor, it’s very slippery when wet!

Dining Options

When we select a hotel to stay at I want to find one with onsite dining options.  The Loews Chicago Hotel has a few and it’s great for family dining.

Starbucks

I need some type of coffee shop on site at any hotel.  If I need a tea in the morning or a snack in the afternoon I want to be able to grab one right downstairs from my room.  The onsite Starbucks is open daily from 7am – 3pm

Streeterville Social

We come here even when we aren’t staying overnight at the hotel.  This is their rooftop outdoor dining option.  I go for the views of the city, but the food is equally as good.  When the weather isn’t cooperating they operate in a space indoors and in the lobby.  The seasoned fries are out of this world, slightly spicy, but so good!

In-Room Dining

In-room dining is available from Streeterville Social for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Simply order on your phone and wait for it to arrive.  We did breakfast in the room and there was a lot of food!  The portions were hearty and we could have easily split a breakfast between the two of us.

Neighborhood Dining

The Loews Chicago Hotel encourages guests to order from local restaurants and enjoy it in the lobby.  They offer menus from Volare or Pinstripes delivered right to the lobby.  The lobby has plenty of seating so you can eat down there and enjoy the ambience.

Lobby Bar

There is nothing I love more than a lobby bar.  However, my love for them has changed a bit since having Lizzie.  We still go, but we look for lobbies that have plenty of seating and room to roam.  We can keep Lizzie occupied with coloring and games and walk her around when she gets antsy.  The Loews lobby is huge, has a second level to walk around and a fireplace.  The whole family wins in this hotel lobby!
