My Newest Spring Jackets

Hello friends!  Being the late bloomer that I am, I am often left unprepared for things.  Such as having a spring jackets!  I’m always stocked up on winter coats, but spring sneaks up on me and I’m left scrambling.  This year I am determined to be prepared though.  I actually picked up this camo jacket already.  But I need more than one spring jacket 🙂

Spring in Chicago can run anywhere from 75 to 35 with sun, rain and snow, sometimes on the same day.  That’s a pretty wide range of weather to go through.  Sometimes I leave the house and a few hours later I need a completely different jacket.  That’s just one of the reasons I love this city so much.  So for spring the more the merrier when it comes to jackets.

My spring jacket often turns into my 2 or 3 spring jackets.  Lucky for me I’m obsessed with jackets and having more than one is perfectly fine with me.  This spring I’ve stocked the closet with 3 spring jackets.  A lightweight option, a medium weight option, and a rain jacket.  A girl needs options and I’ve got them!

Lightweight Option

My lightweight option is fun and on the super casual side.  It’s my camo jacket and I love it!  It’s something I wear on the weekends when I am running errands around town and just need a little something to keep warm.  I’m obsessed with camo right now! You can see all my favorite camo pieces in this post here.

This particular jacket is no more than $50, as it is usually on sale for much less.  It runs true to size; I am wearing it in a medium.  I love that the collar is always popped and that it has an adjustable waist to make it as tight or loose as I want.

Medium Weight Option

For the cooler spring days, I need a little more weight in my jacket.  It takes a while for me to get used to warmer weather (I know that sounds crazy), but I am constantly cold until its about 70 outside.  When it reaches 50 outside, I should probably put away the winter coat and use a heavier spring jacket.

This cotton quilted jacket it the perfect solution.  It is a collarless jacket with a button front, which is unlike anything I currently own.  The jacket is a tad bit longer and covers the majority of my rear end. Which also makes it an ideal jacket to go to and from Pure Barre in.

The jacket is a straight cut and tends to be boxier than fitted.  I suggest sizing down, just based on the cut. I have it in a small and would normally take a larger size.  Oh, and did I mention it comes in the perfect green color?

Rain Jacket

Rain is inevitable in a Chicago spring and I need to be prepared.  Having a true raincoat on hand is something I’ve been avoiding for years.  Mainly because I haven’t found one lightweight enough and waterproof.  The search is over because I found one!

The ReNew Anorak is waterproof, has a hood and is light weight enough to keep me dry and not overheated in the rain.  And it’s also sustainable, it is made from 100% recycled fabric derived from 28 plastic water bottles (except the zippers and trim).  Isn’t that wild?

The jacket runs large, so size down in this one. The back waist is adjustable though so you can cinch it tight. I have it in a small and had to cinch it considerably in the back.  I’m sure the XS would have actually worked too.  I do love the length of this jacket.  As a taller gal at 5’9 I appreciate the longer length and coverage on me.

I’m super excited to bring in spring with my 3 spring jacket options.  I’m sure to have all seasons of spring covered in them!
