Hello summer and hello summer tote bags. Even though the temperature is warmer in the summer I find myself needing to carry more things around town with me. I blame it on the nice weather, once I leave the house I don’t want to come back. That means I’m trying to gather everything for ten different activities at once and for four different people. You can only imagine how much stuff I have.

On a typical Saturday I head out of the house around 8am and get back around 3pm. During that time the whole family is grabbing breakfast, going to the farmers market, hitting up a playground, potentially playing in a splash pad or sandbox and then eating lunch and heading home. Yes I have a diaper bag that takes care of Maggie’s essentials, but I still need more space.

I usually stock up at the farmers markets on veggies, pastries and flowers so having a large summer tote bag is great to stash everything in. I also pack enough for various activities. In Chicago you can leave the house when it’s 60 and in a couple hours later it’s 85. Which means the kids need a change of clothes and bathing suits and water toys. We live on the lakefront so stopping by the beach randomly is not that out of the ordinary. I hate saying no to fun activities in the summer so if Lizzie wants to jump in a fountain I’ll let her. I’ll be ready for it with a bathing suit and towel in my tote bag.
