Summer Office Outfits with Talbots

Ahh it’s that time of year.  Hot summer sun, fresh air and a return to the office.  Yes, the time has come that many companies are calling their employees back to the office.  It’s a little sad, but I understand the need to get back to normal.  While returning to an office in the summer is a bummer there is one thing that is exciting, a relaxed summer dress code.  Today I’m sharing my picks for summer office outfits with Talbots.

My love for Talbots is new and intense!  I featured some spring items previously on the blog (you can find the full post here) and I’ve been living in the ombre sweater ever since.  Talbots offers a classic modern style that my wardrobe has been missing.  In addition, this summer they have some key pieces for summer office outfits that incorporate a more relaxed polished look.

Summer Office Style

With companies offering a relaxed dress code this summer it may seem easy to throw on a pair of jeans and a cute top and call it a day.  However, I like to be dressed up in the office.  I’ll be honest, I’ve spent many years building an office wardrobe that I LOVE and not wearing it in 2020 was rough.  I’m ready to come back in full force and incorporate some fresh summer styles into it.

Having this relaxed dress code doesn’t mean you throw everything out the window and come in looking like you are headed to the beach. It means you can wear a more casual dress that you typically would reserve for weekends.  Or you can wear that midi skirt that might be a little too bold for normal office days.  It means that you can look polished with a more relaxed vibe.  It’s a bit outside my comfort zone, but I am here for it!

Office Style – Casual Dress

Dresses are my go-to this summer!  I’ve been filing up my closet with dresses that can be worn for multiple occasions and this shift dress is exactly what I need. I tend to shy away from super short dress, but this hits right at the knee and is ideal for the office and weekends.  I can comfortably walk to work in this and chase Lizzie on the weekends.

In the office I would pair this dress with a chunky heel and bold cardigan, like this nectarine color.  On the weekends I would wear the dress by itself with a flat sandal.  I love the cut of the dress, it has a generous hip area, and the scallop detail.  The colors are bright and fun and that is what summer is all about.

Office Style – Midi Skirt

My motto this summer is the bolder the print the better.  I am obsessed with bold printed items.  My obsession began with this dress and is continuing with this paisley A-line skirt.  Hello gorgeous pattern!   It’s a perfect dress for the office because the length is classic.

There are so many options with this skirt.  Because it is a fuller skirt I would pair it with a tighter top, that will balance out your entire look.  Furthermore, I would choose a solid color top, and white balances it nicely.  Or you can play off the bold patterns and wear the nectarine scallop cardigan.  Both are great options, but I would lean towards the cardigan for my office environment.
