There’s something about the Fourth of July that always feels nostalgic to me. Maybe it’s the fireworks, the music, or the fact that it officially feels like summer is in full swing. But for our family, the holiday has become less about backyard parties and more about one of our favorite traditions — heading to Millennium Park in Chicago for the annual concert is truly the highlight of the summer. And having the perfect Fourth of July outfits for the family is a top priority too.
Our Favorite Fourth of July Tradition in Chicago
Every year, we pack food, grab a blanket, and make our way to the park for the night.. The girls love running around the lawn before and during the concert, and I love seeing the skyline light up while music plays in the background. It’s one of those traditions that feels simple but incredibly special at the same time.
Of course, deciding what everyone is going to wear has also become part of the fun.
My Favorite July 4th Fashion Finds This Year
When it comes to July 4th fashion, I’m personally not someone who loves overly themed outfits. Instead, I always look for elevated patriotic pieces that feel wearable long after the holiday ends. This year, I’m loving classic striped tops, lightweight sweaters, white denim, easy summer dresses, and comfortable sandals that work for walking through the city.
For moms, the key is finding pieces that feel stylish but practical. A breezy striped button-down paired with white jeans instantly feels festive without trying too hard. I also love adding small pops of red through accessories like sandals, earrings, or a crossbody bag. Since the concert goes into the evening, I always bring a lightweight sweater because it cools off quickly once the sun sets.
For the girls, comfort is everything. I usually gravitate toward cotton dresses, matching sets, and easy sneakers they can actually play in. There’s nothing worse than spending the evening adjusting uncomfortable outfits while trying to enjoy family time.
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that the best July 4th fashion finds sell out early — especially versatile summer staples you can wear all season long. I’ve rounded up all of my favorite patriotic finds for women and kids below, and every piece is something I’d genuinely wear for our family’s holiday traditions.
If you’re still planning your Fourth of July outfits, this is your sign to grab the cute sandals, the striped sweater, and the effortless summer pieces before they’re gone. You can shop my finds for women and kids below.
