How To Style Tall Boots for the Office

how to style boots for the office

If there’s one shoe I rely on every fall and winter, it’s tall boots. They’re warm, polished, flattering, and they instantly make an outfit feel more pulled together without trying too hard. Whether you’re going into the office every day or working a hybrid schedule, tall boots are one of the easiest ways to upgrade your workwear with style and confidence.

How To Wear Tall Boots With Office Dresses

Tall boots add structure, sophistication, and warmth (huge win for chilly offices). They look intentional, not trendy, and work beautifully with classic workwear silhouettes. This combo is my favorite. Knee-length or midi dresses—especially sweater, knit, or structured dresses—pair beautifully with tall boots. The height of the boot keeps the look sleek and polished while giving your outfit a little edge.

Styling Tall Boots With Skirts for the Office

Tall boots + skirts = a forever office outfit. Pencil skirts, A-line skirts, and midi skirts all work well. Add tights if you like extra coverage or warmth, and pair with a blazer or cozy-but-polished sweater. For colder months, tights are your best friend.  My go to pair are from Noosh, Play Sheer in Noir. Tall boots elongate the leg, add warmth, and keep everything professional.

What’s Appropriate In The Office

If your office is business casual or business professional you can weather either suede or softer leather boots.   Think timeless colors like black, brown, tan, or cognac. Heel height is a huge factor too.  Keep the heel lower rather than higher.  Mid to kitten heel is the best.  This adds height without looking like a lady of the evening.  Here are my picks for office and non-office appropriate tall boots.
