5 Must Haves For Your Fall Work Wardrobe

Call me nostalgic, but fall reminds me of back-to-school and back-to-school shopping. As an adult, the fall still holds a special place in my heart. Instead of back to school shopping I do back-to-work shopping.  I refresh my work wardrobe in the fall. I typically wear “fall” clothes up until spring of the following year.  The colors and fabric weight work best in both seasons. When shopping for these pieces I try to stick to classic pieces that can last for many years. And if they are quality pieces I have no problem spending a little more money on them. In the end, it’s all about cost per wear.  This year I’ve added a few pieces to my wardrobe that I know will be around for years to come. I’ve selected them in neutral colors to ensure they won’t go out of style. Here are my 5 must haves for your fall work wardrobe.

Fall Work Wardrobe

Better Than Denim

The work rules have changed and you can get away with more casual items now. These pants are technically not denim, but have a lot of denim like qualities. With a zipper and button they are like denim, but are more comfortable like a stretchy pant. They replace traditional “work pants” of the past and add a current power casual vibe to office wear. They run a little snug so I would size up in these. If you love these and want 20% off, use code LATEREVERAFTER20.

Emma Heel

The last time I wore heels for 8 hours straight was 2.5 years ago.  Needless to say I was so nervous to get back into heels. My nerves calmed the second I slipped on my Sarah Flint Emma Heels, because they are so comfortable! These are a true investment shoe and a luxury treat for your feet. An investment that I think is 100% worth it. The Emma Heel has a great heel height (2 inches) and extra padding to really cushion every step. They run true to size and follow European sizing, I wear a 39 and I’m a 8 in US sizing. You can save $50 off your first pair of Sarah Flint heels with code SARAHFLINT-BAAMYKR.

Cactus Tote

Nothing screams back to work more than a work tote and the Cactus Tote is ideal because it fits everything! I use this tote for work and weekends because it can literally hold a kitchen sink. I have the brown tote and love that it looks rich and luxe. Another selling point is the thick shoulder strap.  It actually stays up on your shoulder and distributes the weight evenly, which is key when carrying a ton!

Hermes Scarf

Scarfs are going to be huge this fall. You can wear it in so many different ways, in fact I have a full post on how to tie a scarf, you can find it here. A scarf dresses up a plain outfit and pulls together a tee shirt and blazer nicely for a casual look in the office. My exact scarf is no longer available, but this one is just as gorgeous and has the traditional Hermes colors.

Porter Jacket

I’ve never met a tweed jacket I didn’t love and the Porter Jacket is going to be on heavy rotation this fall.  I actually picked it up last year, but couldn’t wear it much because I was pregnant and trying to hide it!  But this year, I’m going all out with it. I love it for the office, but love that I can also wear it on the weekend.  I know I will have this piece in my closet forever as it’s classic and chic. It comes in 4 colorways, but I love the black and white combo. Bonus you can save 20% with code LATEREVERAFTER20.
