Currently Loving – Plaid

Fashion Details:

Is it me or does Thanksgiving feel like it was years ago?  I know it was only a week ago, but time is a funny thing. We spent the holiday with my family in Galena, which is a classic little American town in the northwest corner of Illinois.  I’ll be doing a full post on Holidays In Galena soon, so stay tuned. There was enough plaid and garland up there to decorate the world! It made the town feel so charming.

Seeing all of it got me in the mood for Christmas and my latest installment of currently loving, featuring all things plaid!  Usually I’m not a huge plaid person during most of the year. But come winter I’m all over it! From pajamas to shoes and dresses to throws, I’m all in. It adds a pop of color to compliment solids, and is offered in a variety of styles and colors. Plaid brings the holidays into your outfit, and you can pair it with the basics you currently have such as denim, chambray, and all of the black dresses and slacks in your closet.

Below I’m sharing my favorite items with you!  What are your favorite plaid items for the holiday season?  Let me know in the comments below.

This just isn’t a plaid blouse, its a plaid blouse with a ruffle…super cute!  You can wear this top alone and tucked into skinny jeans. I’d throw on my sweater blazer for an extra layer of warmth.  I wore this outfit on repeat last year and would be doing the same this year, if my bump fit into the shirt. Looking forward to next year!!

An essential skirt for Christmas Eve and Christmas day.  The skirt is fun and needs something plain to go with it.  Pair it with a black turtleneck or a chambray shirt. The oversized bow is the best detail on this skirt.

If full on plaid isn’t your thing, then this is the top for you.  The hem has an adorable plaid pattern, while the top is solid black.  Wear this with skinny jeans and a statement necklace, like this pair of pearls.  You can wear this to work or to a holiday get together with friends.

Add a pop of color to your outfit with these shoes.  The tartan pattern is classic and perfect in the fall and winter.  You can wear these with jeans, black pants or even a dress. They are ultra girly and fun to wear.

You can never have to many scarfs.  I may have over 25, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have room for one more. Scarves are my weakness!  This plaid beauty is actually one of my top gifts for the season. I also picked one up for myself!  Get it early, before it sells out.  Oh, and this one is less than $20!

Check out the sleeves on this number, they are to die for!

Patterned shoes are a great way to add personal style to any outfit.  In the office I tend to wear very formal traditional clothes. Adding a bit of flare to my outfit through my shoes is a great way to let my style shine.  This pair can be worn year round and will take your office wear to the next level.

My favorite winter boots are the Sperry Saltwater and this year, they have a pair with tartan plaid!   The boots are actually super warm and keep your feet dry, due to the rubber sole.

I had to throw in a classic Burberry Scarf.  I’ll admit its a bit too rich for my taste, but maybe one day I’ll save up for one and treasure it forever.  It sure is beautiful!
