Chicago Coffee Shop Guide

chicago coffee shops

It’s officially fall so bring on the cold temps and coffee (or tea)! One of my favorite fall activities is visiting one of the many Chicago coffee shops for an afternoon pumpkin spice latte.  I purposely wait until October to have one because I don’t like to rush the season.

I also wait to get out all my fall decorations until October.  I’m a huge Halloween decoration person. The more spooky things in the house the better.  However, I’m not a person who dresses up on Halloween, it’s never been my thing.

This year though it is my thing to dress up Lizzie!  I can’t wait to see her in her costume. It’s not a traditional baby costume, like a pumpkin, and I’m so excited about it.  You’ll have to stay tuned to Instagram to see what she is dressed as.

But let’s get back to those coffee shops.  Chicago is filled with a ton of Instagram ready coffee shops that also serve delicious drinks and treats.  First and foremost I am a tea drinker year round, but the fall makes we want to drink coffee. It’s most likely a fun coffee drink; something that isn’t standard.  So my list below reflects that!

Limitless Coffee

Location:  217 N Green St, Chicago, IL 60607

Grab a charcoal latte and Instagram your heart out! I’d also suggest the oat milk latte if you’re into oat milk, however it’s an acquired taste.

Heritage Bikes & Coffee

Heritage Bikes & Coffee

Location: 2959 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60657 and others throughout the city

Bikes and coffee?  Yes! I only go for the coffee shop though.  All their locations are adorable with the right amount of moodiness.  The original location in Lakeview is full service when it comes to bikes and coffee.  I can be found visitng the outpost locations scattered around the city.

Field House Jones

Location: 312 W Chestnut St, Chicago, IL 60610

I’m a sucker for anything in a hotel lobby and Field House Jones has the cutest lobby cafe. The sun is always shining in the windows and the vibe is very relaxed. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but worth the walk.

Foxtrot Market

Chicago Foxtrot Market

Location: 401 N Wells St, Chicago, IL 60654 and others throughout the city

It’s technically a local corner market, but many locations have a full service bar and kitchen.  My favorite location is the one in River North. It’s the perfect mix of busy yet I’m always able to find a seat.  You can hold up here for hours as the market part offers lots of food choices.

Goddess and the Baker

Not to be confused with Goddess and the Grocer, this offshoot is filled with great coffee and a desert display case you can only dream of.  I may be going here for the sweet treats and grab a latte to compliment it. Everything, I repeat Everything is delicious here!

Dollop

Location: 345 E Ohio Street Chicago, IL 60611 and others throughout the city

A modern day coffee shop with minimalist features.  This coffee shop is great to get your work session on!  In most locations there are plenty of people working on laptops and minding their own business.  You can truly get work done here. Grab an iced caramel latte, it has the right amount of sweet to balance out the drink

Cafe Free Rein

Location: 230 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60601

Natural light is always plentiful here.  The two story floor to ceiling windows lets you get a crisp view of Michigan Ave.  The space is what dreams are made of and the hot beverages are just as good.  Stay awhile and grab a table in the window and watch the hustle and bustle of the city.

PS…Grab a donut to go with your coffee.  My Chicago Donut Guide is here.
