Best Baby Products for 6 Months and Younger

best products for baby

Being a new mom comes with a lot of questions.  For instance, I sometimes feel like I’m a step behind on everything.  It makes sense because I am a late bloomer 😊 However, I don’t want to be behind when it comes to the best baby products, books and toys for Lizzie.

I picked up an activity table when Lizzie was 6 months old and I feel like I should have done it earlier.  Talk about mom guilt! There is a fine balance to having your baby develop properly and not rushing things. For example, right now she is 8 months old and on the verge of crawling.  While I can’t wait for it to happen, I know that it means there is no going back to the baby that sits in one place. In other words, it’s a constant struggle.

Today I’m sharing the best baby products for babies 6 months of age and younger.  It’s nearly impossible to research everything out there yourself.  So I use the power of the internet to help me.  For example, I have several moms I follow on social media and value their opinions.  Some of the recommended products came from them and some I discovered on my own.

One thing I will point out about the best baby products on my list, is that they are things I swore I would never buy.  That is to say, before I had Lizzie I wanted to only buy classic, muted colored toys that blended in with my house. However, I threw that out the window two seconds after buying the brightly colored rattle.

While I want to have thoughtful toys in the house, I realized that if she loves it, I love it.  In addition, the toys aren’t everywhere as we clean them up after she goes to bed and they live in a neutral colored basket that goes with the house.

She’s only going to be little for so long so I want her to love what she is playing with even if it doesn’t match my house.  Most importantly, just seeing the little toys that bring her so much joy brings the biggest smile to my face.

Toys Lizzie Loves

1.Activity Table – Great for babies when they have neck control.  I picked this up when she was 6 months old and wish I got it a little earlier.

2.Fisher Price Coffee and Paper – This might be my favorite toy.  She loves to read the paper and drink her coffee with us in the morning.

3. Atom Rattle – Great product for her to grab with both hands and shake.

4.Blocks – I bought these because I love the soft muted colors.  In addition, Lizzie loves them because they squeak and easy to bite. A classic to the list of best baby products.

5. Gap Teddy Bear – Fun fact: I had the first even Brannan Bear from the Gap nearly 20 years ago.  I won him in a contest when I worked there. And now Lizzie has a current version. It was love at first snuggle!

6.  Pip Squigz Loops – This toy is a lifesaver at restaurants and keeps her busy for a long time.  In addition, It suctions to anything so there is no need to constantly pick it up off the ground.

7.Magical Unicorn Dreams – We read one “bookie” a night and this is her favorite. And mine too!

8.Vtech Book –  This book plays multiple songs, has several buttons to press and pages to turn.

9.Rings – I have no idea what the fascination is with these rings, but they go everywhere we go.

10.Baby Einstein – This was an early toy that she loved.  The lights and sound got her attention without annoying me 😊

11.Black and White Mat – This is great for infants and bigger babies.  I used it in the car for long road trips when she was little. I now bring it to restaurants and she plays with it at the table during dinner.

12.Avocado Toy – How cute is this toy?  I just had to buy it.

Products Mom Loves

1. Baby Brezza Advanced Formula Pro – Hands down the best baby products purchase we made for ourselves.  This machine makes a bottle in mere seconds.  You get your money worth within a day of using it 🙂  It seriously saved my sanity, especially for those middle of the night feedings early on.

2. Nomad Play Mat – I was determined to have a play mat that looked good.  If I was going to be looking at it all the time I wanted it to be cute and blend in.

3. Car Seat Cover – Winter is coming, get ahead of the season and get a car seat cover now.  I LOVE this 7am Enfant cover, its stylish and keeps the baby super warm.  I used this well into March in Chicago.

4. Cute Clothes – I love a mom and me look.  This if one of my favorite tees and now I have one for mini me.

5. Nose Frida – I received this twice and returned it once.  I thought it was gross, but after I received it as a gift a second time I decided to keep it.  Most importantly, this thing is a life saver for a sick kid.  It is one of the best things to have on hand with a baby.

6. Aquaphor – Many doctors recommend diaper cream with zinc in it, unfortunately that did work for us.  Therefore, we use this and it works like a dream.

7. Copper Pearl Bibs – These are magical bibs!  They are super cute and really soak up the baby drool.  We go through two bibs a day and these are my favorite.

8. Baby Bling Headbands – These are the only headbands that stay on her head and don’t dig into her tiny head.  Furthermore, they are soft and easy to put on.

9. Baby Sunglasses – These sunglasses have a build in adjustable band that keep the glasses on any baby’s face.

10. Bags for Formula – This is Mike’s most genius invention ever!   These are actually popsicle bags, but we use them for formula on the go.  We measure out formula in these bags and carry them with us everywhere.  Therefore we can feed her at anytime and don’t have to worry about measuring out the formula on demand.  We also keep a bottle in our diaper bags and get water on the go if needed.

11. Baby Jogger City Select – After a lot of research we chose this stroller as our main stroller.  It has the ability to grow with my baby from birth.  We primarily used it when she was in a car seat and now use it for longer outings around the city with her facing forward in the normal seat.

12. Monthly Numbers – Grab these before the baby arrives to make milestones.  Don’t miss out, 4 weeks goes by in a flash.

13. Strings to Hold Toys – These are genius!  We clip all of her toys to these and secure them to the stroller or highchair.  Consequently, nothing even falls on the ground!

14. Stokke Flexi Bath – A bath tub that grows with your baby.  We used this once she got to big for the sink.  The sloped insert is great for younger babies who can’t sit up.  I still bathe her with the insert and take it out once I’m done washing her so she can play in the tub.
